Can I learn by disciplining myself?

When you have decided to live your life at some point on this planet you have also taken a decision that includes accepting the dangers that exist there for your survival.  In the same way, when you have decided to go ahead with your life, a decision that you take every day and every minute, you have decided to accept the fears that accompany our existence.  However, this requires serious reflection.  The fright that we experience when faced with danger is something natural on which our survival depends.  Fear, on the other hand, is the result of our memories, images and thoughts about things that we would not want to confront.  We are not facing it just imagining how it might be.

We often let our imagination and creativity build unreal scenarios about our future that destroy our present.  Practising attention to the present clearly shows us the pointlessness of letting ourselves be carried away by our thoughts.  Allowing ourselves to consider what we fear about the future distracts us from life and often with serious consequences for our physical health.  If you pay attention deliberately to the present moment you will achieve the consistency that prepares you for a harmonious life and peace of mind, a true life.  Anything that does not occur in the present moment, does not happen. To live in the present is to live without fear.  And if what scares me takes place, I will react calmly in order to avoid damage as far as possible.
