Do I seek refuge outside myself?

As we are not aware that within us we have the best friend we can have, we spend our lives seeking help, during our bad patches, anywhere else and running away from ourselves. What happens is that we notice that the danger or problem that is troubling us comes directly from ourselves, from our thoughts, our feelings or emotions. We do not feel satisfied with the way in which we lead our lives. We do not consider that what happens is our responsibility.
We are touching upon one of the crucial points in finding the path towards harmony, consistency and peace of mind: the only ones who are responsible for not taking this path through life are ourselves. There is no excuse but a lack of awareness for not finding it. Nothing outside you can lead you to this path. Not your best friends, nor alcohol nor drugs, nor beliefs, nor gurus, everything has failed up till now. It is exclusively your responsibility. Stand up and take on your responsibility.
Begin to live with an awareness of your own life. You have been distracted and confused. Try yourself out as a path through life.
You do not have to go to Tibet or the mountain peaks, you do not even have to leave your house or dress in a strange way. Pay attention to what you do for a few moments, over a few days.
Observe what you do, think or feel and investigate why you do it so that you find out why it makes sense to do it.
What am I doing at the moment? Why? For what? Do I feel good as a result of doing it? Is it possible for me not to do it? Do I think that I will be able to stop doing it next time? What is dependent on me achieving it?
These are some of the questions that will open the doors to bring Attention into your life. The end of your conflicts.
After walking for a short while with this inner friend of yours you it will suggest, in your own interest, many other ways of leading your life. Do not judge nor blame yourself, your life begins at every moment.
