Does reality match with what I think of it?

Commentary by José Parés Pérez. Concepción, Chile.

What a beautiful image accompanies this brief reflection!

I saw it and I liked it.

Fractions of a second later, I understood what I was looking at. The first thing I saw was a beautiful ballet dancer in a light and elegant posture. And straight away I understood the photographic skill of putting, as her skirt, the beauty of a tulip.

Does reality coincide with what I think about it?

From the reality, we receive information that we can perceive about it and, even more so, what we interpret from what we perceive. What we think about the reality that we perceive, can be profoundly different from that reality.

What we see, hear and interpret is just that, what we interpret from what is in front of us.

Other people can interpret something totally different.

Having clarity about this reality, in a way that we learn about the reality, makes it possible for us to get closer to achieving harmony in our relationships, not only with others but also with ourselves.

I would stop giving credit to what they said that I am, to my beliefs, for example, to give credit to what I can perceive about myself by means of my self-observation.
